Shell shocked….continued

I remember her walking in and I knew something was not right. I didn’t know her aside from brief interactions at the counter or as I made rounds….but I was seeing a person that was in shock.

I asked if she was ok, she broke down for a split second and disclosed that she had just been diagnosed with cancer.

The next day she came in after her first treatment.

Somewhere along the way I just felt I needed to be there for her, she hasn’t disclosed the details and I haven’t probed….but I have found a new friend and I’ll do what I can to be there for her.

Donating to the Body Farm~

Well not sure yet if my body will go to the body farm, but I am actively undertaking the necessary steps to donation. I’ve been considering making whole body donation the legacy of my life for some time now, and I am finally putting my “affairs in order”.

Here are some donation facts:

  1. Anatomical donation is the time-of-death gift of organs and tissues for medical research and education. Anatomical donation is almost always an option, even when transplantation is not.
  2. Organs and tissues are only placed or donated with reputable academic, corporate, and government research and education institutions.
  3. Donors and their families can take comfort in knowing their donated organs and tissues will be used to benefit so many others. Donated organs and tissues are used for:
    • Dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s research
    • Diabetes research
    • Arthritis research
    • Asthma and COPD research
    • MS and ALS research
    • Spinal cord injury research
    • Cancer research
    • Drug therapy research
    • Surgical education
    • Surgical device development
    • Bariatric and urologic surgical education
    • Minimally invasive surgical procedures
    • Orthopedic education

So if in my life I cannot make an impact I will be rest assured that after I die whatever is left of me will go to help others thru further medical research.
